Our Mission
Strong Arms of Mississippi exists to help young men build stronger futures through mentorship, violence prevention, and community connection. We meet young people where they are, build relationships grounded in trust and consistency, and use lived experience to help them see possibilities beyond the circumstances around them.
Our goal is not simply to respond when something goes wrong, but to be present early enough to help prevent it.
Our Story
Strong Arms of Mississippi was founded by Benny Ivey and Terun Moore, two men who chose to use the lessons from their own pasts to help young people choose a different future.
Their experiences with incarceration, gangs, addiction, and the justice system became the foundation for a credible messenger approach built on trust, accountability, and relationships. They understood that sometimes the person most capable of reaching a young man is someone who can genuinely say, “I’ve been there.”
What began as a commitment to give back has grown into mentorship, violence prevention, youth engagement, and community work across Central Mississippi.
